Distance: ~8 miles one way (~16 miles round trip)

Start Point: South Jenny Lake Visitor Center – charging stations, restrooms, lake access

Cross the Snake River; open valley vistas with the Tetons in the distance
One of the best panoramic photo spots of the entire ride

Historic log chapel with the iconic altar window framing the Grand Teton
Open to visitors; a peaceful and photogenic stop
Nearby Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center (restrooms, water, exhibits) and Dornan's for food

If you arrive with ~40–50% and want a comfortable buffer for the night at Shadow Mountain:

2-2.5 hr ride = ~40-50 miles of added charge

Plenty to cover your drive into Jackson area, camp overnight with Camp Mode, and hit the Jackson Supercharger the next morning

Friday (Sept 5) – Morning Bike Ride to Mormon Row Barns

🎯 Goal: Sunrise bike ride to iconic Moulton Barns, then explore Grand Teton

Early Morning Sunrise Ride

🚴 Gros Ventre to Mormon Row Barns Route

Distance: ~7–8 miles one way (~14–16 miles round trip)

Road Surface: All paved roads

Elevation: Mostly flat with gentle rolling hills; very manageable

Step-by-Step Directions

1. Exit Gros Ventre Campground: Turn west (left) onto Gros Ventre Road

2. Head toward Kelly/Highway 89: Ride ~3 miles on Gros Ventre Road; early Teton views across sage flats

3. Turn Right on Mormon Row Road: At intersection with Antelope Flats Rd, turn right (north) toward Mormon Row Historic District

4. Continue to Barns: Pedal ~2–3 miles; barns will be obvious on your left (west side) with pull-offs for photos

Timing for Sunrise Magic

Leave camp 45–60 minutes before sunrise for relaxed ride and prime positioning. Early light makes the Tetons glow and casts beautiful light on the barns.

Safety & Tips

β€’ Minimal traffic early morning, but ride single-file and stay right
β€’ Use headlight/taillight if leaving before dawn
β€’ Keep distance from bison and pronghorn in the flats
β€’ Bring camera for classic postcard Teton view
